WorldChicago seeks a Chicago host family for the remainder of the academic year for an exchange student from Kyrgyzstan, who came to Chicago through the prestigious Future Leaders Exchange Program of the U.S. Department of State.
Manas, 17, is sociable, articulate, and thoughtful, and speaks English very well. He currently attends Taft High School on the northwest side of the city, where his favorite subjects are English, mathematics, and computer science. He's a natural leader who, as one of his teachers described, "can find a common language with any person."  He enjoys soccer, cooking, aikido, reading, and music of all genres. Manas lives with his parents and two siblings in Jalal-Abad, a small town that played host to travelers for thousands of years as a central passageway along the ancient Silk Road. He is excited to be living his dream of visiting the United States and looks forward to sharing the customs and culture of Kyrgyzstan, while also learning about ours.
A host family is needed from January to June 2013. Host families provide a bed, meals, and transportation to and from school. Students receive a monthly stipend for spending money, and an additional stipend for school-related expenses. If you are interested in welcoming Manas to your family, please contact Maria Krasinski, Youth & Professional Programs Manager  at World Chicago
